WHAT MAKES PERIPHERY A THING?

Check out the marvellous 'Periphery People'!

Periphery Theatre would not exist if it wasn't for the magnificent people that have been a part of the team along the way, in whatever capacity!

We want to celebrate everyone who has ever worked with us, who is currently working with us, and who will work with us in the future! To see all of these fantastic creatives, check out our 'Periphery People' page for more details!

MEGAN BASNETT

Co-Founder of Periphery Theatre

Hi! I’m Megan Basnett, theatremaker, coffee drinker, and co-artistic director of Periphery Theatre!

My main role in the company is to continue developing Periphery’s ensemble-based approach to working with new creatives! Blue Bottles (2021) was our first experiment in making commercial fringe theatre in the aftermath of COVID-19; which had shaken the world's theatre landscape with a ‘new normal’. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to make my own ‘socially distanced’ theatre work through my MA in Creative Enterprise in Theatre, and was prepared for this new challenge with gusto!

Alongside my theatre work, I also work as a Vocational Trainer, supporting learners who have struggled to attain qualifications under the traditional education system. These skills come into practice in my supportive work with new creatives and as I seek to build accessible spaces in theatre for audiences and creatives.

Currently, I am keeping important Periphery projects in development and on the hush-hush until we are ready to show them to you! I am also working on my own new venture in writing a one-woman show, which seeks to explore the pursuit of happiness, play and the acceptance of trauma.

THOMAS SPARROW

Co-Founder of Periphery Theatre

Hello, I'm Tom (or Thomas to be formal) and I am a co-founder of Periphery Theatre. I am a playwright and theatre producer originally from the midlands, but now based in London.

My writing credits include One Night in October (2019), Cheaper than Chimpanzees (2020, online transatlantic festival), blue bottles (2021, The Lion and Unicorn), Beside the Stream (2021, The White Bear), Rising (2022, The Golden Goose) and a selection of comedy sketches as part of Corrupt Women (2023, SOHO Theatre).

I am passionate about keeping the theatre industry open, and allowing as many people to enjoy the crazy world that is getting harder and harder to be a part of.
